How to deal with grief? Meet Casper, the most well matched ESA for my daughter that ever could have been.

He was loving, grateful, quiet, and most of all provided champion level emotional support.

Like all of us, he was not perfect. He drove me crazy with his incontinence, until the day my heart was broken wide open when an x-ray proved he had a huge inoperable tumor filling his little body, his innards were all twisted, his heart was enlarged, and his back was fused in the many places he may have been hit before he came to his forever home.

The second photo shows what he looked like the day we adopted him. He had been collected as part of a 50+ dog hoarding situation.

The last photo is what he looked like after only a few months in Dani’s care. A testament to the power of love.

I’m not alone in the losing a dog department. All of us pet lovers at some point come to the end, so grief is part of the joy.

How to deal with grief? By letting it wash over and not bottling it up inside. By remembering you can’t taste the sweet without the salt. By giving yourself some space to grieve. By remembering the journey of joy and love.

Today I’m remembering that age-old, we all know it TRUTH that life is uncertain and its best to engage with it fully each day.

As a cancer survivor, you would think I have this nailed.

Yet even I, with direct experience of near death and the chance to live again, get caught up in the dalliances and distractions of life.

I sometimes think this amnesia we have around lessons we learn, and with time, forgetting the lessons we swear we won’t forget, is the actual gambit.

The amnesia allows us to experience the lessons of life again and again. Life is to be experienced for realsies, it appears.

Casper, thank you beyond words for rescuing my family and especially my Dani. You are such a sweet boy, so cuddly and funny. We will miss you so much.

We know we need to fill our tanks first, and do we really?

I encourage you to prioritize nurturing yourself, especially with the actions you prioritize and with the words you use to describe yourself and your choices. Here’s some ideas 💡

😊 DO MORE OF WHAT MAKES YOU HAPPY without apology

💝 CHANGE YOUR THOUGHTS and watch your outer world change

🌻 ATTITUDE IS A CHOICE and not something that does or does not happen for you

🙏 BELIEVE IN YOURSELF because you control you (not others).

➡️ Keeping control of your OWN thoughts is certainly more productive than hoping OTHERS will somehow change and meet your needs.

Here’s what I’d like to share:

➡️ How you are in your business is how you are in life.

💝 That’s what I love about quality direct sales companies, because they provide the operational framework for us to focus on our growth without many of the headaches with traditional company formation.

🥹 I held beliefs that were holding me back.

🤦‍♀️ TRUTH: I stopped working for the trip in the November/December timeframe, distracted by other goals and believing the trip criteria were too hard.

⁉️ TRUTH: I believed this even though others had already earned it. 🤯

By the time I changed my mind in January, I needed 22 points in 8 weeks. It was going to require massive action coming from behind.

🙌🏽 I needed to let go of recriminations that I could have been more proactive.

🙌🏽 I needed to try on new behaviors.

🙌🏽 I needed to be more loving towards myself, be my own best champion.

➡️ My approach to business and LIFE is forever changed by what I’ve learned on this journey.

🌻 And I’m glad for it.

I sometimes bust myself real time, noticing I’m procrastinating with tidying up a space or cruising the net. Or even participating in running my business.

These actions matter, yet sometimes they matter less in the particular moment.
